Indoor Bouldering Wall
In 2021, Kong Climbing was approached by the LCC Group to install a new climbing facility in Bethnal Green. The project’s key challenge was the location—listed railway arches where attaching the steel sub-structure to the existing archway was strictly prohibited.
Kong’s engineers devised an innovative solution: a freestanding structure that follows the curvature of the arches. This design not only maximized the available space but also created an open, airy climbing environment. The curved beams were a triumph, achieving a precise 10mm gap between the arches and the steelwork, ensuring optimal use of space.
The facility spans four arches, with an additional outdoor area added in early 2024. It boasts a diverse array of climbing sections, including slabs, vertical and overhanging walls, wooden training boards, campus boards, and a gym. Everything a climber needs!
Working with LCC to bring a climbing wall to Bethnal Green has been an absolute pleasure.
