Twenty eight years after constructing the renowned lead wall at Kendal Wall, Kong returned to infuse new life into this nearly three-decade-old structure. The team meticulously removed the old panels from the 25m lead wall and surrounding lines, ready to replace them with modern counterparts. During the process, Paul Cornforth (Kong MD) fondly reminisced about the ‘good old days’ of installing the original wall.

Additionally, the team gave the opposite Kong wall a fresh coat of paint, bringing the entire area into the 21st century with a sleek light grey and purple design that aligns with Kendal Wall’s colour themes. 

Overall, Kong replaced 240m² of climbing surface on the lead wall and refurbished 230m² on the opposite wall.

This project is a testament to the fact that climbing walls don’t need to be removed to be modernized. It’s amazing what some TLC can do to uplift the entire vibe of a climbing center.
